Our final house swap of this trip is in Stirling, a great central Scotland city, a the gateway to the Highlands. The area around Stirling is well worth exploring with lovely scenic car trips within a short radius.  The city itself has many interesting places to visit including Stirling Castle, the Wallace monument (a tribute to William Wallace loosely portrayed in the film Braveheart), and Stirling Church of the Holy Rude where James I and IV was crowned as a 12 month old and where John Knox used to preach.  When asking why the church had two separate memorials to the WWI fallen, we heard an interesting story.  The two ministers of the church fell out in the 1300s and as a result half of the congregations followed each and a wall was erected across the middle of the church, separating each congregation.  The wall was not removed until 1936, 300years of separation later! We will be very sad to leave Scotland as we have had a great time, not only looking around as there is so much to see and its steeped in history, but also because I had a terrific time catching up with old friends and family.
