Bend, Oregon

Bend, Oregon

We’ve had a week of fun, relaxation, and adventure in Bend, OR. Some friends came to visit from Washington. It was a treat as we were able to share our local knowledge with them, beginning with dinner at Drake in Downtown Bend.  http://www.drakebend.com/ This restaurant came highly recommended and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Do make reservations as it is not a secret and is the place to go in Bend.
Our house is another gem, it is located just a couple of blocks from the downtown district and the park. The Deschutes River runs through this magnificent setting and the city fills the summer with free concerts and even Shakespeare in the Park.  I have to say, I enjoyed geo caching and daily walks through the park, there are trails, bridges and benches throughout, everything around is postcard perfect and the people are some of the friendliest I have ever come across. This is an idyllic location and we definitely want to return. For more information about what to do in Bend visit:http://www.visitbend.com/Bend_Oregon_Activities_Recreation/
We then went for a drive to the Cascade Lakes. The scenery is breathtaking, there are several lakes in the area and each one is more beautiful than the other. We hiked around for a while snapping pictures and taking in the beauty and then discovered a gem. When you go to places like this and find a place to eat it is usually the typical tourist fare of tasteless burgers and chicken fingers, but the Cultus Lake Resort is not typical at all. It sits on a beautiful lake off the beaten path and the menu is certainly a surprise. Although they do serve burgers and sandwiches, but the burgers are anything but ordinary. They also have salads consisting of Quinoa and Farro, or a house salad with arugula and red cabbage. The dressings are homemade, the prices are reasonable  http://cultuslakeresort.com/CultusLakeResort_Restaurant.html
There was just so much to do. Another exciting part of the trip was myphotoshoot. We found the most amazing photographer, at his gallery right downtown and booked a professional photo shoot with him. Jeffrey Murray was certainly a find. And his gallery is a must visit:http://www.jeffreymurrayphotography.com/#!/index The new photos will soon be posted in my media room.
